Lolita
I remember reading this book in high school but it wasn't until I was in my twenties that it really hit me how risque this story actually is. It doesn't surprise me at all that it's been banned from schools before but at the same time, I think the attention it brings to pedophilia is vital. A truly disturbing story but it's so well written and the narrative is superb, so you can almost forgive the horrific content.
