A really good and fascinating read about one woman's life as a geisha prior to and following World War II. I'm a sucker for World War II books/films and I loved that this one was set in Japan—a country I've always been fascinated with. The only reason I didn't rate this book five stars was because the ending was too drawn out. It's been quite a number of years since I've read it but I much preferred where the film ended. But then again, considering it's meant to be a first person account of the protagonist's life, it makes sense it would go on further and later into her life. Still a great read.
